Network Rail has said it won't comment further on claims that a member of staff hit a dog with a shovel on the Harrogate line.
The Stray Ferret last week reported allegations that an employee struck the dog at Weeton Station. Another eye-witness has since come forward with similar claims.
Network Rail, the public body responsible for the rail network, confirmed last week it was carrying out an “internal investigation into an animal-related incident” but did not give further details and has been silent on the matter since.
The Stray Ferret has twice asked for updates but no more information has been released.
A spokesperson said the company had "no update to share". They added:
It is an internal investigation and we won’t be commenting further on its process.
The Stray Ferret has been told the dog was hit with a metal shovel after it got on the train line.
It happened in front of passengers and the train driver, sources have added.
A spokesperson for animal welfare charity the RSPCA said:
We would appeal to witnesses and anyone else who has first-hand information about this upsetting incident to contact the RSPCA on 0300 1234 999.
