The construction of three new homes is breathing life into the site in Skellgarths that was formerly the location for Ripon's first public library.
Planning permission to demolish the library building to make way for construction of the dwellings, was granted in July 2014, but the scheme halted when the then developer got into financial difficulties.
The site, which is within Ripon's conservation area, lay dormant for years, before being sold at auction to new owners in summer 2023.
Work on the site is now well underway.
The former library closed in the autumn of 2001, when the new library opened as part of The Arcade regeneration scheme in the city centre.
