A new cocktail bar is to open its doors in Harrogate this week.

The Barologist, which has taken over the Parliament Street unit formerly occupied by The Harrogate Arms, has relocated to the town after closing its former Edinburgh site.

The new bar is one of 17 operations led by The Discovery Group, which boasts sites across Scotland, Newcastle and Yorkshire.

The Barologist markets itself as a "unique blend of theatrical flair, immersive décor and expertly crafted cocktails".

When the Stray Ferret asked the company why it chose to relocate to Harrogate, a spokesperson said:

We decided to relocate to Harrogate as part of an exciting new chapter for The Barologist. Harrogate’s vibrant hospitality scene and strong sense of community align perfectly with our brand values. We saw a fantastic opportunity to introduce our imaginative food and cocktail experience to a new audience – and to bring a little extra quirkiness to the town’s food and drink landscape.

Our Edinburgh site in Leith was open for just over five years, during which we built a loyal following through our distinctive, creative approach. However, we’ve always aimed to evolve and push boundaries, and this move gives us the chance to focus on dynamic, event-led experiences while reaching a wider customer base.

Visitors can look forward to seasonally-inspired cocktails and expect to feel as though they have "stepped into The Barologist’s cosy and quirky home".

Mixology masterclasses, bottomless brunches and themed events will also be held.

Alan Bowers, managing director at The Discovery Group, added:

We’re thrilled to bring The Barologist experience to Harrogate. This town has an incredible energy and a growing food and drink scene which we’re excited to be part of. The Barologist has always been about storytelling through cocktails, atmosphere and service — and we can’t wait to share that with a new audience.
