A new deli is set to open in Harrogate next week.

Kitchen & Koffee, a sandwich deli and takeaway, will operate on Westlea Avenue in Harlow Hill a week on Saturday (June 1).

The venue will be open seven days a week from 7.30am to 3pm. It will sell hot drinks, sandwiches, and breakfast boxes as well as weekly specials and Sunday morning hangover breakfasts.

The site, which was previously the Sandwich Deli, is now owned by Gale Filburn and David Leybourne, who live in Harlow Hill.

The owners told The Stray Ferret renovations had cost about £5,000.

Mr Leybourne, 53, has worked as a chef for over 30 years and has a passion for making Yorkshire Scuffler, a type of bread he will being to the new café.

He has worked in kitchens across Harrogate, including as head chef at Queen Mary's School in Thirsk and as executive chef for department store Hoopers.

Ms Filburn runs her own health and safety consultancy, whose services include food safety audits and training.

Ms Filburn said:

"David has always dreamed of having his own place and the opportunity came up and we thought if not now, then when. So, we grabbed the opportunity with both hands.

“We are very much looking forward to providing cooked from fresh sandwiches, soups and more, we source our ingredients locally and try to offer healthier options.

"There is nowhere on Harlow Hill offering the same menu and we want to give neighbours up here what they want. Our customers are in for a treat and we will give them a a warm welcome."

The deli will have seating to offer the community a place to meet as well as enjoy food and drink.

The couple also plans to offer a service whereby customers can order dishes for up to 12 people to take away and cook at home for dinner parties or special occasions.

Kitchen & Koffee will open at 7.30am on Saturday, June 1 and an open event will be held on May 31 to give the Harlow Hill community a sneak peek.
