Farnham

A planning application to build nine two-storey homes in Farnham has been submitted to North Yorkshire Council.

The development would be built on three-and-a-half acres of grassland off Shaw Lane.

It would consist of five detached homes and four semi-detached homes with garages and parking spaces.

A planning statement in support of the application, written by Zerum Planning, says the applicant is Steven Parkin.

It adds the proposals were put forward after pre-application talks last year with a council case officer who, according to the statement, “supported the principle of development in this location”.

A design and access statement that was also prepared in support of the plans says “there is an established need for housing in Farnham and the wider area”.

Farnham is situated between Knaresborough and Boroughbridge.

The statement adds two access points would be created from Shaw Lane and all the homes would have “the potential to create additional accommodation within the roof space either for work from home space, gym/well-being space or bedrooms”.

The council will decide whether to approve the plans after a 21-day consultation period in which interested parties can have their say on the application.
