Year 11 students from Nidderdale High School are to take on an endurance challenge this weekend in memory of their teacher, Tim Connors.
Mr Connors died of cancer at the age of 46 in September 2025. He taught at the school for 22 years and is widely remembered as a dedicated teacher and member of the Pateley Bridge community.
On Sunday (April 19), pupils will run a 38-mile relay around Nidderdale Showground in Pateley Bridge. The distance of the run has special significance because it mirrors the journey from Nidderdale High School to Turf Moor, home of Burnley FC — the club Mr Connors supported.
The students will complete the challenge in two teams of five, alternating every mile in a show of teamwork and determination. The event will begin at 1pm and is open to the public, with a raffle, tombola and cake stall also planned to help raise additional funds.
Their goal is to raise money to build an outdoor shelter at the school, creating a lasting tribute in Mr Connors’ memory that future students can use and enjoy.
Organisers are encouraging the local community to come along, show support and contribute to the fundraising effort. Donations can also be made online via their JustGiving page.
