The Nidderdale Walk is set to return in May after breaking the £1 million barrier for charity last year.
This year’s walk will take place on Sunday, May 18, starting in Pateley Bridge and heading into upper Nidderdale.
The walk is made up of six routes between four miles and 26 miles. The options take walkers through Wath, Ramsgill, Lofthouse, Gouthwaite, Fountains Earth Moor, and Scar House Reservoir.
Organised by the Rotary Club of Harrogate, the walk aims to raise money for local and national charities. Last year, the walk broke the £1 million mark for funds raised for local and national charities.
Brian Stuttard, chairman of the walk committee, said:
The sole purpose of this Rotary event is to provide fundraisers with well organised, waymarked walks with checkpoints along the way to enable them to raise money for their own charities. We do the preparation…. you raise sponsorship by walking or running.
We would like to say a big thank you to all those who have taken part in previous years and to have now raised over £1,000,000 is truly astonishing.
Matthew Stamford, director of estate agents Verity Frearson, which sponsors the walk, said:
We are absolutely delighted to support the Nidderdale Walk again this year. Our team thoroughly enjoyed the walk last year and were thrilled to help the Rotary Club of Harrogate reach their £1 million milestone. Last year we did the 15-mile route but might tackle the 18-mile version this year.
Last year's 30th anniversary event raised £31,000 and saw 449 walkers and runners take part.
It costs £12.50 for adults to enter (£6 for the four-mile walk) and you can enter on the day. To sign up online or for more information on this year’s Nidderdale Walk click here.
