Pateley Bridge is united in grief today for the funeral of 19-year-old Bailey Chadwick.
Bailey was killed in a hit-and-run collision on the B6265 between Pateley Bridge and Glasshouses in the early hours of Sunday, July 20. The police investigation is ongoing.
Bailey’s death, days before he was due to travel to Thailand on holiday, has devastated Nidderdale.
A cortege was due to leave his home in Glasshouses at 12.30pm today and arrive at St Cuthbert’s Church for a 1pm funeral.
The Royal Oak, where Bailey worked, posted on social media that the family had invited anyone who would like to raise a glass in Bailey’s memory to go to the town's Memorial Hall afterwards.

It added people could wear whatever they wanted but anything with an owl on it — the mascot of Bailey’s beloved Sheffield Wednesday – would be particularly appropriate.
The Royal Oak will be open from 6pm but not serving food.
Pateley Bridge Town Council observed a minute’s silence for Bailey before its meeting on Tuesday this week.
Reverend Darryl Hall, of St Cuthbert’s, urged people to hold Bailey’s friends and family in their hearts ahead of today’s funeral and shared a prayer online.
He also urged anyone struggling or in need someone to talk to, to get in touch.
An online fundraising appeal by Bailey’s sister Daniella Chadwick raised £18,665 for his funeral.
She posted online:
I want to take a moment to thank everyone for their donations. Thank you for taking the pressure off family at this time. Bailey would be so proud of his friends and family coming together at a time like this. He loved you all and so do we.
