North Yorkshire Police has issued an appeal for information after poultry were found abandoned near Boroughbridge.
According to a police statement this morning, officers found them in an "unusual location" in the Marton-cum-Grafton area and were concerned for their welfare.
The birds include hens, bantams and peacocks.
They are currently being kept safe by police while enquiries continue.
Today’s statement added:
They are currently safe and are being well cared for.
We are requesting the public’s assistance to help establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident. In particular, we are appealing for information regarding the identity of the owners of the poultry.
