Police have confirmed that a person died in an incident at Starbeck railway station last night.
Emergency services rushed to the station, which is on the line between Harrogate and Knaresborough, shortly after 6pm last night.
The Stray Ferret contacted British Transport Police for further details.
It said in a statement:
Officers were called to Starbeck railway station to reports of a casualty on the tracks.
Paramedics also attended, however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.
Enquiries to establish the circumstances leading up to their death are ongoing.
A person on the train today told the Stray Ferret the train had just pulled into Starbeck when it halted due to the incident.
He said passengers were kept on board for about 10 minutes, and praised train staff for their professionalism at such a distressing time.
