Firefighters using breathing apparatus tackled a kitchen blaze at a house in Harrogate yesterday.
Both Harrogate crews were called to Yarrow Drive in the Jennyfields area at 5.12pm.
According to North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service’s incident report, the fire was caused by “an air fryer being left on a cooker”.
The report added:
Crews entered wearing breathing apparatus to extinguish the fire with a hose reel jet. All occupants were out prior to their arrival. The cooking appliance was removed and the property naturally ventilated after the fire was extinguished and gas isolated.
The occupant sustained some smoke inhalation and went to hospital for further checks. Crews remained on scene to dampen down hotspots and handed over to other family members.
It was one of several incidents on a stormy night.
At 6.23pm, a Harrogate fire crew was called to St Mary’s Walk in the town. According to the incident report, “a large window had broken in heavy winds and the elderly occupant was concerned for their safety”. Firefighters secured a temporary fix.
Harrogate firefighters were called out again at 8.35pm to reports of a fallen tree on the road at Grove Avenue in Burton Leonard
However, the incident report said the tree was not affecting traffic and cordoned off the area.
