A pizzeria is to open in a well known location on King's Road in Harrogate in the next few weeks.

Stefano’s Pizzeria will be based in the former Regal Fruiterers site. The fruit shop and a neighbouring florist, Regal Flowers occupied the site for 50 years.

Restaurant owners Stefano Dell'Oso and his fiancé Sally Hall have set a provisional opening date of June 19.

Stefano’s will open daily from noon until 10pm and will employ approximately four people to work alongside Mr Dell’Oso, Ms Hall and her mother.

Ms Hall is originally from Knaresborough and met Mr Dell’Oso while working in a restaurant after she studied a diploma at performing arts school Italia Conti.

Ms Hall is a wedding singer while Mr Dell’Oso has worked in hospitality for almost 10 years.

Mr Dell’Oso said the pair decided to open the business in Harrogate after visiting Ms Hall’s parents and agreeing it would be a great place to start. He said:

I fell in love with the place and the people living here. I was looking to start my own business as an Italian pizzeria and I saw that there aren't many that would offer the same product, especially with a wood-fired oven, so we worked hard and are making this happen.

We especially think Kings Road is the right place, it has very lovely people and locals and is a nice family area.

The menu will focus on pizza with starters including olives, garlic bread and cheese platters. Desserts include traditional Italian tiramisu as well as ice creams.

There will also be Italian wines, mainly from the Abruzzo region, where Mr Dell’Oso is from, and Italian coffee and beers.

Mr Dell’Oso said:

I want to focus on just pizza to guarantee the best product, instead of making a restaurant full of different options. All the ingredients are from Italy, and we will add more choices in the future.
