Plans to convert a former Ripon pharmacy into a dental surgery have been submitted to North Yorkshire Council.
The change of use application has been made by HG Dentistry Ltd, which is seeking permission to tansform the premises previously occupied by Day Lewis pharmacy at 4 Westgate, into a dental studio.
The building became vacant when Day Lewis relocated to Market Place West and the proposals from HG Dentistry Ltd., include the installation of five new windows to the side elevation and ten solar panels to the front elevation.
Advertising consent is also being sought for non-illuminated facia and projecting signage including the words 'No 4 Dental Studio'
Ripon, in common with many other parts of the country, has a lack of dentists - particularly those providing dental care and treatment for NHS patients.
The situation was exacerbated last year when Bupa closed its Finkle Street practice.
Following Bupa's closure announcement, Ripon City Council wrote to the then Conservative government Health Secretary, Steve Barclay, raising concerns about the further reduced access to treatment for NHS patients in the city.
