Plans approved for 20 new homes in Masham
Plans to build twenty new homes in Masham have been approved by North Yorkshire Council.
The houses will be built on a brownfield site, formerly the Masham Farmers Livestock Mart, which closed in 2006.
Since closure, the site on the northern edge of the town has stood empty and has been mainly overgrown hardstanding.
The application was originally submitted by Briahaze Village Homes Ltd, a Ripon based company, and has been ongoing since 2021.
The number of homes have been reduced from the 26 originally submitted.
The current site - Masham Farmers Livestock Mart
Permission was granted earlier this week for the 20 houses plus the associated access and landscaping.
The dwellings range from one-bedroom townhouses to a five-bedroom detached home. Six of the homes are classed as affordable housing.
The delegated planning report states:
The design of the dwellings reflects the traditional form, scale and design of houses in Masham and will be constructed from stone.
