Plans are underway to improve safety on a busy Ripon road, months after double yellow lines were installed near the entrance to a children's playground.
Yellow lines were installed at the junction of Bondgate Green and King Street this year, after residents raised concerns about potential danger for pedestrians caused by vehicles being parked outside Millfield Play Area.
The double yellow lines installed at the junction near Millfield Play Area this year.
Ripon city council leader Andrew Williams told the Stray Ferret that this did not resolve matters. He said:
Once the parking restriction was put in place the problem moved further down the road and I was astonished to see that some motorists had started parking on Bondgate Bridge.
To remedy this, the city council has called on North Yorkshire Council highways to extend the yellow lining to cover both sides of the bridge.
Before this can happen the North Yorkshire legal department will advertise a traffic order and there will be a period of public consultation.
