Plans have been submitted to create six new flats above a shop on Harrogate’s Cambridge Street.
The proposal, which has been tabled by Paul Lunn Architectural Ltd on behalf of D and A (2199) Limited, would see the floors above Holland and Barrett converted.
The developers have proposed creating six flats on the first, second and third floors above the shop.
The plan would also see the roof of the building extended to facilitate a second and third floor.
According to planning documents submitted to North Yorkshire Council, the flats would consist of two bedrooms, one bathroom and a living and kitchen area.
Elevations of the planned flats as submitted to North Yorkshire Council.
This is the proposal to create town centre flats in Harrogate.
The council approved a plan for eight flats on the upper floors of 6-14 Cambridge Street in November 2023.
The former River Island unit has also been converted into a complex of 14 flats known as Trinity House.
In a planning statement to the council, the developer said:
The proposed development will help to address the council’s housing targets and will bring new residents to the city centre and increase footfall, providing social, economic, and environmental benefits that very much falls within the definition of sustainable development, on which the National Planning Policy Framework encourages planning authorities to take a positive approach.
North Yorkshire Council will make a decision on the proposal at a later date.
