Firefighters responded to reports of a fire to a home in the Ripon area last night.
North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service's incident log said Ripon and Masham crews were called to the scene at 8.56pm.
Firefighters found the electric hob had caught fire, which was caused by a plastic kettle that had been “left on top” of it.
The fire had been extinguished before crews arrived, the log said, adding the occupants of the house used a fire blanket to put it out.
The firefighters removed the hob from the property and gave the people inside advice.
No further information was released.
Knaresborough firefighters were called to a fire in Masham last night.
The log said the crew responded to reports of a fire in the back garden of a house at around 5.46pm.
When they arrived, they found a garden shed was on fire.
Crews used a hose reel and breathing apparatus to extinguish the blaze.
