Police have launched an appeal after an 85-year-old man fell while protecting his dog from a 'Pit Bull-type dog' in Harrogate.

According to a police statement today (December 10), the incident occured on Hall Lane Park, near Richard Taylor Church of England Primary School in the Bilton area on Tuesday, November 18 between 7pm and 7.30pm.

The statement added:

The elderly man was walking his Labrador when it was attacked and injured by a white Pit Bull-type dog, which was unmuzzled, out-of-control and off the lead, and being walked by two young men.

The pensioner fell over whilst trying to protect his dog and was left feeling very shaken and upset.

We’re appealing for information from anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or can help us to identify the young men and the attacking dog.

Police described the men with the attacking dog as white, aged around 20-years-old, and wearing dark clothing. They left the park without providing any details.
