A teenager and a man were arrested following a car chase from Harrogate to Leeds last night (March 4).
North Yorkshire Police said in a statement today officers atempted to stop a Ford Focus on the A61 Leeds Road in Harrogate shortly before 11pm, as it did not have any headlights on.
But the statement added the driver did not pull over and instead sped along the A61 towards Leeds.
The car eventually struck a kerb and its tyres deflated just north of Leeds, according to police.
Officers arrested the passenger at the scene – a 17-year-old boy – on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle and possession of cannabis.
Police added the driver ran away, but he was caught 30 minutes later after a helicopter, drone and police dog unit were deployed to track him down.
The 23-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of failing to stop, dangerous driving, drug-driving and theft of a motor vehicle.
