North Yorkshire Police has started a two-week crackdown on commercial vehicles today (January 26).
The force said it was taking part in the national policing operation in response to a series of collisions and incidents involving commercial vehicles, some of which have been fatal.
Officers will work with partner agencies at checkpoints on education and enforcement initiatives.
The force has already set up a checkpoint by the A1(M), as shown in our main image.

A van is towed away as part of the operation.
A North Yorkshire Police statement said commercial vehicles "can pose a serious risk" when "used inappropriately or illegally".
The statement added:
Sadly, across the UK we have recently seen several fatal collisions caused by insecure loads—often during unloading. A key focus of this operation will be load security.
We urge drivers, owners, and operators to take every possible step to ensure loads are properly secured. Guidance is available on the government website by searching ‘Load Security’.
