A woman who was arrested in connection with the fire that gutted The Cricketers pub in Calcutt early on Tuesday has been released on conditional bail.
North Yorkshire Police said yesterday the woman had been arrested on suspicion of arson and spent several hours in custody.
A police spokesperson told the Stray Ferret today she had been bailed and the investigation into the incident was continuing.
Fire crews from across the district and beyond were called to The Cricketers, near Knaresborough, shortly after 4am yesterday, and even after they had brought the blaze under control, the building continued to smoulder through the morning and into the afternoon.
No-one was injured in the fire – the pub and accommodation above it are believed to have been empty at the time – but North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue said the fire had caused "100% damage" to the building.
