A police officer has raised safety concerns about parents dropping off pupils of King James’s School in Knaresborough on the roads outside the school.
Denise Booth, a police community support officer from North Yorkshire Police’s outer Harrogate team, said concerns had been raised about pupils being dropped off on York Place and York Road, immediately outside the school.
She urged parents to use the York Place long stay car park instead. The car park is less than a quarter-of-a-mile from the school.
PCSO Booth said:
Parking and dropping off around schools always a problem. Busy people dropping off before going to work always in a bit of a hurry.
However, please take into consideration the safety of everyone, yourself, your child, other pedestrians and road users.
Please consider using York Place car park to drop off your children. It is a short walk to the pelican crossing opposite the school, you can drive in, drop off and drive straight back out again.
