North Yorkshire Poilice has warned motorists to be vigilant following an increase in car crime in the Harrogate area.
Sergeant Dan Price, of Harrogate neighbourhood police team, said police have stepped-up their response.
He said:
Reassurance patrols and pro-active police activity have increased in the area due to several burglaries and theft from motor vehicles over the past few weeks across Harrogate and its surrounding rural areas.
Despite this you do live in a very safe area, but in order to reduce the chances of being a victim of crime please ensure that when it gets dark you have locked your doors and vehicles and not left anything of value out or on display.
Sgt Price, who raised concerns on the police's North Yorkshire Community Messaging email messaging service, also urged people to ensure their CCTV and security cameras were charged up and to report any suspicious incidents.
