Primary school pupil’s winning road safety sign installed on Ripon housing development

A pupil at Moorside Primary School has won a competition to design a road safety sign that has been displayed on a Ripon housing development.
Arthur, aged 10, took on the challenge to create a poster encouraging visitors and homeowners in the area to make the streets as safe as possible when driving around the new Fountains Walk development.
The competition was hosted by Taylor Wimpey, which owns the development, in partnership with the local school.
Claire Rowett, headteacher at Moorside Primary School, said:
Partnering with Taylor Wimpey on the competition has given our pupils a great opportunity to learn about the importance of road safety, which we are very grateful for.
We are so proud of Arthur and pleased to see his design now installed at Fountains Walk. The competition has highlighted how important it is to encourage parents and other drivers to think twice about the way they drive.
Nicki Hope, sales and marketing director at Taylor Wimpey North Yorkshire, said:
It was great to see the pupils of Moorside Primary School taking an active role to help encourage drivers to slow down in and around Fountains Walk.
We were really impressed by the creativity of all the pupils who entered the competition, with Arthur demonstrating a real understanding of how to get his speed awareness message across with his design.
