ProCook, the high-end national kitchenware business, is to move its Harrogate town-centre branch around the corner and set up shop right opposite rival Lakeland.
ProCook’s branch on Princes Street will close, and the business will then reopen on James Street – in the former LK Bennett unit.

LK Bennett closed its James Street shop earlier this year.
It is not the first recent example of a cross-street showdown between rivals. Posh bakery Gail’s confirmed last month it would open on James Street, and it is believed its new branch will be located directly opposite competitor Prêt à Manger.
A spokesperson told the Stray Ferret the move was due to take place in a few weeks’ time, but no exact dates had yet been decided. They added:
All colleagues in the current store are moving across, there is no change to the product range – we'll still be selling the full range – and the site choice is purely down to us taking up a great opportunity in a new location.
ProCook’s current shop on Princes Street started out as a branch of Steamer Trading, but that company was bought out of administration in 2019 by ProCook, which then rebranded the branch as well as several others around the country.
