The Stone Beck pub in Harrogate has closed – again.
The Jennyfields pub has had a chequered past and has faced a string of closures over recent years.
It was taken over by Darren McCann last December, who Punch Pubs and Co - the company that owns The Stone Beck – said was passionate about ensuring the pub "continues to thrive at the heart of the community for many years to come"
However, Punch Pubs and Co yesterday (April 10) confirmed the venue has shut once again.
A spokesperson told the Stray Ferret:
We can confirm that the Stone Beck pub in Harrogate is currently closed. We are actively reviewing options for the pub’s future and are keen to see it reopen.
We know how important pubs are at the heart of their communities, and we want to reassure our guests that welcoming people back through the doors of the Stone Beck is a real priority. We look forward to reopening as soon as possible.
The Stone Beck was forced to shut in 2023 after police discovered it did not have a designated premises supervisor.
The following year, former Geek Bar owner, Alan Evans, took it on and pledged to create a community pub that would not tolerate trouble.
However, after Mr Evans took over The Mother Shipton Inn in Knaresborough last autumn, The Stone Beck closed its doors once again.
A large police presence was spotted outside the pub earlier this month, as reported by the Stray Ferret, after officers received several reports of a “violent disturbance” there.
