This week, the Stray Ferret published an article on the debate over a park and ride in Harrogate resurfacing again. Below are comments from readers leaving their thoughts on the scheme.
To be successful a park and ride scheme needs the buses to travel faster than the rest of the traffic. Hence York has a number of bus only lanes (these can also be used by cyclists, taxis and some even motorcycles). However, the main routes into Harrogate namely Leeds Road, Otley Road, Wetherby Road, Skipton Road and Knaresborough Road are not wide enough to have cycling lanes let alone bus lanes. North Yorkshire Council needs to bite the bullet and set in train the construction of an Inner Relief Road or Ring Road to take through traffic, farm traffic and HGVs away from the town centre.

Don't forget the Dales who need to get in to Harrogate who don't have a bus services if park and ride was ever to happen.

Still not one of the councillors who served both on Harrogate Borough Council or North Yorkshire County Council make any comment about all the house building they have allowed has been the biggest contributor without a thing about the Infrastructure is the cause.

On 1st October, I called in to Sainsbury's in Colne, Lancashire for fuel. I paid £1.36 per litre for diesel. I'm staggered to see the price at Sainsbury's in Harrogate is currently £1.45 a shocking 9p/litre more. Other filling stations in town are charging similar prices giving rise to the perception there is an anti-market cartel in operation in town. Can this be investigated?
