Readers’ Letters is a free weekly column giving you the chance to have your say on issues affecting the Harrogate district. It is an opinion column and does not reflect the views of the Stray Ferret. Send your views to letters@thestrayferret.co.uk.
This week, we’ve published a letter and collated some of our readers’ comments that have been left on a recent story.
This reader raises concerns about the new payment system at mutli-storey car parks in Harrogate. You can read more about the council's parking overhaul here.
Life is never simple. Parking at the Jubilee multi-storey car park used to be a delight.
Once our number plate had been registered on the app, we could gain automatic entry and we would be charged automatically upon exit.
Following recent changes, we must now park, locate a pay machine, estimate how long we will be and how much money to spend, and then keep an eye on the clock.
We have to hope that the designer of the new system foresaw benefits to the changes, but they certainly make things harder for the user.

The Harrogate Station Gateway scheme is one of the district’s most divisive projects. This week, the Stray Ferret revealed a campaign group had lost a legal challenge against North Yorkshire Council, which is behind the scheme. Our story received lots of comments, some of which you can read below.
This North Yorkshire Council is no different to those in government – they just don’t care what people think.

We don’t want this flawed scheme.

I’ll use the cycle lane. It’ll make travelling through town with my daughter a little safer and, hopefully, encourage more people to take up cycling. Thus, reducing congestion, pollution and the need for parking spaces.
