This week, readers have had their say on new pay-on-arrival parking machines in Harrogate after the Stray Ferret revealed the council was set to spend £3m on a contractor to install the machines.
These machines rip off visitors, you always pay more than is needed. Pay on exit were better.

Why, when new parking machines were being considered, didn't the powers that be consult the town's residents about their parking needs and habits? A survey of shoppers would have indicated their needs.
Jackie Stanton
Mr Mann is correct, paying in advance does deter people from spending more time in a town. Why won't North Yorkshire Council listen to local businesses?
