Readers’ Letters is a free weekly column giving you the chance to have your say on issues affecting the Harrogate district. It is an opinion column and does not reflect the views of the Stray Ferret. Send your views to letters@thestrayferret.co.uk.

These comments were left beneath our story about North Yorkshire Council’s ongoing failure to find tenants for prime units in Harrogate’s historic Royal Baths.

The Royal Baths Building deserves better tennants than bars and clubs. I think this reputation is putting other tenants off.

I always hoped it could attract another upmarket cafe to rival Bettys like it had in its heyday. The bars and fast-food outlets are pushing any other businesses out. We need some upmarket shops to return to our town centre. Harrogate has become a mecca for weekend bar crawls.

Pauline Medley-Weston

I'm not surprised Harrogate's Royal Baths are proving to be as commercially catastrophic to let as they are architecturally splendid. In my experience, councils do not have any entrepreneurial or commercial skills.

Barry

These comments were left beneath our court report on former Harrogate councillor Pat Marsh, who was accused of posting antisemitic tweets.

What a complete farce. Former councillor Marsh is obviously suffering from dementia or something associated with it. Who is benefiting from this?

Stephen Jones

She was obviously capable of using six different devices for her activities. Unless you were privy to all the evidence I'm not sure how you are able to come to the conclusion you have.

Paul Reynolds
