A Yorkshire actor is set to appear on screens across the UK today (February 26) as the long-awaited revival of Scrubs lands on Disney Plus.
Jacob Dudman, who was born in Ripon and attended St Aidan’s High School in Harrogate, has joined the cast of the hit medical comedy’s reboot.
Dudman plays Asher Green, a British medical intern who finds himself out of his depth in an American hospital – not least because he is squeamish around needles and blood.
Director, and lead actor, Zach Braff said making the character English was a deliberate decision. In an interview with Esquire Magazine, he said:
That gave us an interesting way to have some commentary on him digesting the American health-care system. Why an English kid ended up working in an American hospital is revealed throughout the course of the season. He’s a bit nervous and behind the rest in terms of his confidence and his ability.

Speaking to The Geekiary about the revival, Dudman spoke on the importance of distinguishing the new series from a simple reboot.
He said:
I think it honours what has come before, but is so forward-facing, and really does feel like a continuation of these characters’ lives. It doesn’t feel like we’re replaying the hits. To me, it feels like this is, you know, the new series of Scrubs. We’ve just had to wait a long time in the edit for it to turn up.
Dudman has already built an impressive CV in film and television. He recently appeared in the 2025 film The Choral and is known to many for roles in The A List, The Stranger, The Last Kingdom: Seven Kings Must Die and Fate: The Winx Saga.
Now, from Ripon to an American hospital ward on one of television’s most beloved medical comedies, Dudman’s latest role marks another major milestone in a career that continues to go from strength to strength.
The first two episodes of Scrubs are available now on Disney Plus.
