A Ripon company has invested £1.1 million in new manufacturing machinery to help improve its production capabilities.

Econ Engineering, which is based at Boroughbridge Road in the city, has purchased a state-of-the-art Bystronic ByStar 6225 laser cutting system.

The machine incudes a an upgraded 12kW laser head, helping to increase cutting performance and making manufacturing quicker and more efficient compared to existing equipment.

The new laser cutter also introduces advanced mixed gas cutting technology, enabling the company to process a wider range of materials and thicknesses in-house.

Thomas Lupton, quality and compliance director at Econ Engineering, who has led the investment on behalf of the company, said:

This significant £1.1m investment into state-of-the-art laser cutting machinery further enhances our manufacturing capacity and flexibility, supports more complex fabrication requirements and strengthens our ability to respond quickly to evolving customer needs.

The result is improved efficiency throughout the production process, helping us maintain the highest standards of quality and delivery.

By embracing modern manufacturing technologies, we are ensuring our customers continue to benefit from innovative engineering, dependable quality and the responsive service that has become synonymous with our brand.

Following installation at Econ’s manufacturing headquarters in Ripon specialist engineers have overseen final commissioning with the machine now fully operational.
