Hundreds of Ripon families have benefitted from an initiative to provide free school uniform items for children.
Schools are due to reopen in North Yorkshire on September 1.
Many families in Ripon will have found the costs more manageable this year thanks to the Salvation Army's Back to School scheme, which helps families prepare for the new school year.
Lianne Bell, manager of the Salvation Army store on North Street, told the Stray Ferret:
We have, over the past month, received and given away, without charge, 3,000 brand new items of uniform that were donated by large retailers across the UK.
The items have included summer dresses, shirts, trousers, tights, skirts, cardigans, hooded tops, shorts and other sports clothing.

Ms Bell added:
When we first received the goods we created a window display pointing out that these and other uniform items on rails inside our shop, were free to any family in need of them.
The response of hundreds of parents with children from nursery to secondary school age has been incredible and we are delighted to help people at this expensive time of the year when family budgets are under pressure.
A limited amount of brand new uniform items remain availalable free of charge, along with some pre-worn school clothing that is in good condition.
