Ripon hit by spate of car crime
People in Ripon are being urged to lock their vehicles after a spate of car crime.
North Yorkshire Police said in a statement today (June 18) it was “aware of a number of incidents over the last two nights in the Ripon area where individuals have attempted to interfere with vehicles”.
The statement added:
These are not just opportunistic attempts on unlocked cars — offenders are causing damage in efforts to gain access, regardless of whether vehicles are secure.
Officers are carrying out increased patrols and enquiries are ongoing. We are asking residents to remain vigilant and report anything suspicious.
No further details on the incidents have been released, but officers urged residents to lock vehicles, remove valuables and consider additional security measures such as steering wheel locks, alarms, and CCTV.
