Ripon Racecourse stages its most valuable race day of the season on Saturday (August 16) when a field of up to 20 sprinters will line up for the William Hill Great St Wilfrid Handicap.
The feature race on the card, which has been sponsored by William Hill for 31 years, carries a prize of more than £50,000 for the winning owner.
Last year, the seven-race fixture had prize money of £215,000 on offer including a total pot of £100,000 for the St Wilfrid, a six furlong sprint named in honour of Ripon's patron saint since 1839.
Ripon, which has earned the name of 'Yorkshire's Garden Racecourse' because of its floral displays, is looking resplendent ahead of Saturday's fixture
The 2024 running was won by Dare to Hope, trained by Richard Fahey and ridden by Oisin Orr.
The Malton-based handler also trained last year’s runner-up, Ramazan.
With good weather forecast, thousands of racegoers are anticipated to watch this year's running at the Boroughbridge Road track.
Gates open at 11.15am and the first race is off at 1.35pm.
Family groups are welcome and under-18s accompanied by an adult will be admitted free of charge.
