Roadworks have got underway on another major route in Harrogate.
Northern Gas Networks today closed a section of Cold Bath Road and put up diversion signs.
When the Stray Ferret visited the road this afternoon, the road was closed heading uphill between Harlow Manor Park to Otley Road. A diversion was in place via Harlow Manor Park.
The road was still fully open downhill but no work was taking place and it appeared traffic management was still being finalised.
Some cars were ignoring the 'road ahead closed' signs at the Crown roundabout and driving up Cold Bath Road.
But others were following the diversion and the confusion caused some cars to pause and led to traffic backing up on Montpellier Hill and Royal Parade approaching the Crown roundabout.

According to North Yorkshire Council’s roadworks map, a gas main is being replaced.
The diversion directs traffic via Cornwall Road and Harlow Moor Road then back to Otley Road, the council’s roadwork map shows.
Roadworks are due to last on Cold Bath Road until 11.59pm on Friday, November 22.
The Stray Ferret contacted Northern Gas Networks for more information, but we did not receive a response by the time of publication.
