Roadworks affecting one of the principal routes into Ripon started this morning and are scheduled to last until Friday.
The work, on High Skellgate, involves the installation by Northern Powergrid of electric cabling and will see the daily closure of the road from 9.30am until 3.30pm.
During the six hours when the road is closed each day, traffic including Transdev's 36 bus service will need to use alternative routes into the city centre.
Resurfacing work on Moss's Arcade, is due to be carried out overnight from Friday
On Friday, North Yorkshire Council will begin six nights of road resurfacing work (From 7pm until midnight) on Moss's Arcade, which runs adjacent to Ripon Bus Station.
This will be followed by a further six evenings of resurfacing works on Victoria Grove, again between the hours of 7pm and midnight.
City council leader Andrew Williams told the Stray Ferret:
We requested that the resurfacing of these badly potholed roads be carried out overnight to minimise disruption to businesses in the city.
During the closure period motorists will be able to access the Sainsbury's and Cathedral car parks via the St Marygate entrance.
