Roadworks taking place over 20 nights on a 2.5 mile section of the A61 approaching Ripon are scheduled to begin on Monday, August 4.
The carriageway surfacing works to be carried out by North Yorkshire Council highways team involve the stretch of road from Daffodil bends to the Ripon bypass roundabout at Quarry Moor.
They will be carried out under a full road closure between the hours of 7pm and 6am.
Ripon City Council leader Andrew Williams, who is also a member of the Conservative and Independents group on North Yorkshire Council, told the Stray Ferret:
I'm pleased that these necessary works, designed to improve safety on the A61, will be carried out overnight to minimise disruption to motorists, inlcuding visitors coming to the city and people travelling to and from their place of work.

A notice on the city council Facebook page says:
Whilst the works are in progress, a fully signed diversion will be in place. On-site personnel will assist in managing access to properties and businesses within the closure.
