Roadworks are due to begin on another major street in Harrogate on Wednesday (October 30) as part of a £20 million project.
Northern Powergrid, which distributes electricity, has been undertaking work on Ripon Road for the past fortnight.
It is part of a wider scheme to enable the network to cope with an anticipated doubling of demand for electricity over the next 20 years.
A company spokesperson said today that work on Ripon Road, which started on October 14 and according to signs was due to finish on November 15, was due to finish early and the “next phase of activity has been moved forward”.
The roadworks were, however, still in place this evening (October 28).
The spokesperson added:
This means that instead of taking place in January 2025, it will be working on King’s Road from October 30 until November 15 as it continues to see progress ahead of schedule.
Northern Powergrid is working with North Yorkshire Council and NY Highways to mitigate disruption, but there will be some parking restrictions and traffic management measures in place, and the Harrogate council office will be affected.
Northern Powergrid is doing everything possible to minimise disruption and complete the work as safely and efficiently as possible.
