Roadworks have returned to Leeds Road in Harrogate – a month after the last batch of cones disappeared.
Gas distributor Northern Gas Networks is carrying out work on the A61 to replace ageing metal pipework with more durable plastic pipes.
The work, which began on Monday (August 4), is scheduled to end in early September.
Two-way lights will operate between Fulwith Gate and Almsford Avenue from 7am to 7pm each day.
The junction of Fulwith Mill Lane and the A61 is closed for the duration of the work.
Previous roadworks further along Leeds Road, at the junction with Leadhall Lane and Hookstone Road, caused considerable delays between May and July.
Those works, also carried out by Northern Gas Networks, led business owners to raise concerns about the impact on trade, One owner told the Stray Ferret her takings were "about 20%-25% down".
Mark Mawhood, operations manager at Northern Gas Networks, also said today:
We would like to apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused during these essential works. However, it’s vital we complete them in order to continue to maintain a safe and reliable gas supply to the residents of Harrogate.
We have worked closely with local stakeholders including North Yorkshire Council to ensure that the work is carried out in the school holidays to minimise disruption, and they will be completed before the start of the new school year.
