Rob Harrison set a new course record when he ran 35 miles in 4 hours and 13 minutes at this year’s Ripon Ultra.
Representing host club Ripon Runners, Rob made the most of the circular route, which started and finished in Studley Roger.
He finished almost 42 minutes ahead of his nearest challenger.
The undulating route took in trail, woodland and moorland terrain in Nidderdale National Landscape (formerly Nidderdale AONB), finishing with a scenic downhill run through Studley Royal deer park.
The annual event has individual and team options, making it suitable for experienced solo runners and those wishing to run as part of a group.
Paula Downing of Louth Athletics Club was the first woman back, and the Raw Fitness team won the relay event.
Race director Victoria Pang said:
We had ideal race conditions, especially after last year’s storm.
We’d like to thank all of the entrants who put so much time into training for this challenge. Secondly, we couldn't host the Ripon Ultra without our incredible team of volunteers, so we appreciate everyone who gave up so much of their time on the day. We’ve had some lovely feedback about the friendly, community feel of the run – which is exactly what we set out to achieve.
Food was supplied by Caroline Bentham’s Waste Not Wednesday charity, with Alan Brownlee of AGB Sports Massage Therapies providing massages after the race.
A proportion of race proceeds were donated to Waste Not Wednesday and the RABI farmers charity.
