A primary school was closed this morning and residents were without water due to a burst main in the Bilton area of Harrogate.
Yorkshire Water this morning (November 26) confirmed a water main has burst on Knox Avenue, which has left homes and businesses across Bilton with little-to-no water.
Bilton Grange Primary School, which is in the area affected, did not open as usual.
The school told the Stray Ferret there is “no running water” but said parents will be updated at 10.30am about whether the school can open for the rest of the day.
We asked Yorkshire Water when the water will come back on and if those impacted will be compensated. A spokesperson for the firm said:
We are currently working to repair a burst main on Knox Avenue, which is causing loss of supply or low water pressure in some nearby properties. We’re working as quickly as we can to complete the repair and restore normal supply, and in the meantime, will be delivering bottled water to impacted customers on our Priority Services Register. We’d like to apologise for the inconvenience and thank everyone in the area for their patience.
This is an ongoing incident and the Stray Ferret will provide updates when they become available.
