Minnows Scotton will attempt to pull off an upset tonight when they play Harrogate in cricket's Addison Cup final.
The Addison Cup, which is contested by the top 16 teams in the Harrogate and District Amateur Evening Cricket League, is one of the oldest cricket competitions in the world, dating back to 1922.
Beckwithshaw lifted the cup for a record 19th time last year when they beat Goldsborough in the final at Knaresborough.
That match had to be postponed twice due to bad weather but tonight's forecast is better. However, the forecast goes downhill for the rest of the week, which is bad news for Harrogate's Great Yorkshire Show.
Play starts tonight at 6.15pm at Follifoot Cricket Club. Entry is free for what promises to be a David vs Goliath encounter.
Harrogate are top of Division 1 and beat Beckwithshaw in the semi-final.
Scotton are second bottom of Division 3 so will go into the final as underdogs but they had a great semi-final win over highly fancied Knaresborough.
Peter Horsman, secretary and treasurer of the league, said:
As far as I am aware Scotton have never won the Addison Cup, nor have they appeared in the final before.
