A family-run animal supplies store in Boroughbridge has been taken over by the founder’s son.
Mark Wright, who founded Boroughbridge Animal Supplies in 2012, has handed the reins to his son, Steve, and Steve's wife Ria.
Steve, a mechanic, joined the family business in its early years and has spent more than a decade learning the ropes. He even met Ria, who worked at the shop, along the way.
Now, the husband-and-wife duo have taken ownership of the company and will lead a team of four.
Steve said:
My father always said: ‘You should be able to do every job in the shop’. That principle has guided how we’ve worked as a team from the beginning.
Boroughbridge Animal Supplies was inspired by Mark's previous role as a haulage driver delivering animal feed.
It stocks more than 100 brands and sells a range of products, including toys, food, bedding, accessories and health products, for dogs, cats, small mammals, fish, poultry, horses and farm animals.
The company also sells its own range of dog food, Wright’s Choice.
Steve, who officially took over the company on August 1, added:
We are proud to continue the legacy that Mark built and we are committed to maintaining the high standards of service, value and product quality that our customers have come to expect.
At the same time, we are excited to bring new energy and ideas to the business. Our focus will be on growing the range of products, staying in tune with ever evolving customer needs and ensuring that Boroughbridge Animal Suppliers remains a trusted name in the area.
We believe in doing the right thing for our customers - offering genuine advice, fair pricing and personalised service that larger retailers often can’t match.
