A Knaresborough man has been jailed for possessing a knife in central Harrogate.
Andrew Hunter, 44, appeared at York Magistrates Court on Saturday (March 21) when he admitted one offence of possessing a knife blade or sharp-pointed article in a public place.
According to court documents, Hunter had a locking knife in his possession without good reason or lawful authority on Cambridge Road on September 25 last year.
Hunter, of Frogmire Close, was handed a 21-week jail sentence.
Court documents say an immediate prison sentence was justified due to the serious nature of the offence, as well as Hunter being a “second-strike knife offender”.
No reasons to support suspending the sentence were presented during the hearing, records add.
Hunter was also ordered to pay a £154 surcharge.
