More than 100 local homes are without power this morning as Storm Darragh continues to cause disruption.
Electrical distribution company Northern Powergrid’s live power cuts map indicated about 160 homes in the former Harrogate district were affected at 9am.
The area around Ripon and Masham appears to be worst hit: 85 properties in villages between the two locations are without power. They include North Stainley, Grewelthorpe and West Tanfield
A cluster of 37 homes in Nidderdale are also affected. They include properties in Darley, Summerbridge, Thruscross and Greenhow Hill.
About a dozen homes in the Ripley and Scotton area are also waiting to have power restored, according to Northern Powergrid.
In the latest update on its website at 6.15pm last night, the company said it had restored power to more than 32,600 customers affected by Storm Darragh,
It said more than 47,700 customers have had their power supplies affected “and the storm is continuing to have an impact as it moves across our region”.
Storm Darragh ensured it was a busy night for North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service.
However, most storm-related call-outs were elsewhere in the county.
Harrogate firefighters were called to reports of water leaking inside a property at 4.24am, but it turned out to be due to a leaking ice machine.
Six minutes later, Ripon firefighters were summoned to reports of a car on fire in Summerbridge. The vehicle was 100% fire damaged.
