The Swinton Estate near Masham is streamlining operations by liquidating and winding up the company trading as Swinton Bivouac.
As part of a corporate reorganisation within Swinton Estate, Glebe Yorkshire Ltd – formerly Bivouac Swinton Ltd – has been placed into voluntary liquidation.
But the estate has issued a reassurance that the change is for the good of the business.
Iain Shelton, chief executive of Swinton Estate, said:
Whilst it is very much business as usual at Swinton Bivouac, the decision has been taken for it to be brought under the operation of the wider leisure business on the estate and not as a separate entity.
The administration and compliance costs for companies have been rising over the years, and this will create savings and efficiencies which will all help ensure the long-term future, and continued success, for our luxury glamping destination and ever popular café.
All suppliers have been paid, and staff already form part of the Estate leisure team. The business has been performing well in recent years and we are forecasting another busy year in ’26.
Swinton Bivouac is an off-grid glamping facility on the 20,000-acre Swinton Estate, with bike and walking trails, wood-fired hot-tubs and a woodland sauna.
The rest of the estate includes the Swinton Park Hotel, country club, restaurants, cookery school and a range of self-catering cottages.
