Tesco has confirmed that its Harrogate superstore will open at 8am on Tuesday next week.
The Skipton Road store will then be open from 6am to midnight on Monday to Saturday and from 10am to 4pm on Sundays.
There will also be 24-hour fuel available on a pay-at-the-pump basis on a nearby forecourt.
Store manager Annabelle Speed said:
“We are extremely excited to be opening our new store and helping to serve the local community. We want to offer great value to our customers and the benefits of Tesco Clubcard and Clubcard Prices.
“We are so pleased to have got to this point where we can finally open the doors and want to thank everyone for their patience. We look forward to having a positive impact in Harrogate and serving our customers.”
In a press release today (December 3), Tesco said the supermarket, which will sell F&F clothing, had created 120 jobs.
The press release described the building as ‘Tesco’s low carbon concept store’ because of sustainability features such as a timber frame, solar panels, the use of reused stone from a local stone yard, and reduced-energy heating and lighting systems.
The new store is giving a £1,000 grant Resurrected Bites, a food waste charity which runs community cafes in the Harrogate area, to mark the opening.
It means the HG postcode will have two Tesco supermarkets within 11 miles following the opening of a store in Ripon on November 20.
