Thousands set for Nidderdale Show on Sunday
Nidderdale Show will make its annual return this Sunday (September 22) as it enters its 152nd year.
The agricultural event, which brings the local show season to a close, expects around 15,000 people to descend on Nidderdale Showground in Pateley Bridge.
From horses and cattle, to poultry and pigeons, the event will showcase some of the finest animals, produce and industry products the country has to offer.
People can look forward to a full day of events from 7.45am, starting with the open equitation classes.
Throughout the day, there will be sheep dog trials, cattle and pig events, the supreme sheep championships, showjumping and hound parades.
A range of smaller animals will be shown and judged, including rabbits and birds, while crops, vegetables, horticulture and home produce will also be on display.
People can expect trade stands selling clothing and agricultural equipment, as well as a forestry exhibition, a heritage marquee, cooking demonstrations and a wide range food stalls.
The band parade down the town’s High Street will begin at 11am, while Nidderdale XI cricket team will take on Craven XI at the same time.
There will also be performances from Summerbridge and Dacre Silver Band, as well as The Buchan Bagpiper.
Those with young children can use the family area, run by the staff at Sunflowers Day Nursery, which will include a nappy changing station, bottle warming facilities and a breastfeeding area.
Little ones will also be kept entertained with the arts and crafts area, face painting, a sandpit with small diggers and more.
All parking on show day is free and organisers say the car parks will be well signed.
A free park and ride tractor will operate between the showground and Bewerley. The route is shown below.

Adult tickets cost £13.50, a child ticket costs £4 and a family ticket – for two adults and three children – will set people back £33.
Children under 11 go free.
Advance tickets are available online now. Tickets can be bought on the gate, but they will be more expensive.
Classes begin at 7.45am and will run until around 6pm. Trade stands and marquees will close at 5.30pm.
