Three men have been arrested following a string of incidents in Knaresborough and Spofforth yesterday (October 27).
North Yorkshire Police today said the first of the three incidents happened at 7.35am on Meadow Road in Knaresborough.
The force received a report after two sets of alloy wheels, which were kept in a garden, were loaded into a 10-reg white Ford Transit van, which then drove off.
Around 30 minutes later, another report was made to police. This time, a property on Knaresborough’s Thistle Hill, which was undergoing renovations, was said to have been broken into and power tools and a petrol strimmer were stolen.
Today’s statement added the third and final incident was reported at 8.22am, when an electric scooter was taken from outside a property on East Park Road in Spofforth.
Officers reviewed CCTV and doorbell footage and established the same white Ford Transit van was present at each incident. They also spotted the three suspects.
Police searched the area and located the van in Wetherby town centre at 8.45am.
Three men – a 27-year-old from Keighley, a 27-year-old from Bradford and a 34-year-old from Bradford – were arrested when they returned to the van carrying breakfast butties, police said today.
Officers also recovered the suspected stolen goods.
North Yorkshire Police added:
They were taken into custody for questioning in connection with the burglary and two thefts.
They have been released on conditional bail while police enquiries continue.
